Overview Inova Schar Cancer Institute seeks dedicated Medical Oncologists and Hematologists to join a nationally recognized cancer program in the DC metro area. You will deliver coordinated, multispecialty care in outpatient and inpatient settings and participate in translational research and clinical trials. The role supports patients with solid tumors and benign hematologic conditions, integrating medical treatment with genetic counseling, palliative care, and supportive services. Responsibilities- Deliver coordinated multispecialty care for solid tumors and benign hematologic conditions in outpatient and inpatient settings
- Participate in multidisciplinary oncology care with teams including surgery, radiation, clinical research, genetic counseling, and supportive services
- Complete initial assessments and ongoing treatment plans for new and existing patients
- Order medications and diagnostic procedures; coordinate related services
- Contribute to preventive health, community outreach, and quality improvement initiatives
- Engage in clinical research projects in oncology and hematology, including translational efforts
- Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and collaborative care discussions
- Provide clinical teaching and in-service education to students, residents, and fellows
- Collaborate with nursing, social work, and rehabilitation staff to ensure holistic care
- Contribute to the clinical research office for industry-sponsored, NCI, and investigator-initiated trials
Key requirements- Board-certified in Medical Oncology (for the Medical Oncology track)
- Board-certified in Hematology (for Classical Hematology)
- Licensed or eligible to practice medicine in Virginia
- Proven track record in patient-centered care, education, and clinical research
- Completed accredited residency and fellowship (for Medical Oncology)
- Demonstrated experience in clinical care and research of benign hematologic disorders (for Classical Hematology)
