Compensation: $105,000-$125,000 annualized at 1.0 FTE, prorated based on FTE and commensurate with experience


Beginnings Birth Center is looking for a Family Nurse Practitioner to join our growing team.

This is an opportunity to practice differently. Our FNP works alongside our Certified Nurse-Midwives and women's health team, providing thoughtful, relationship-centered care in an independent birth center practice.


You'll care for patients across a variety of areas, including:

  • Prenatal and postpartum care
  • Newborn care
  • Well-Woman and gynecologic care
  • Contraception and family planning
  • Preventive care and health education


And because we believe good care takes time, you'll enjoy longer appointments and the opportunity to get to know your patients.


Who we're looking for:

  • We're looking for an FNP who genuinely loves women's health and newborns and wants to be part of a collaborative, supportive team.
  • Experience in women's health, family practice, pediatrics/newborn care, or maternity care is preferred-but new graduates are welcome to apply. We're happy to teach the right person who is excited about this work.
  • Applicants must be eligible for Colorado APRN licensure and national certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner. BLS and NRP certification are required for the position.

The Staff Nurse Practitioner provides antepartum, postpartum, newborn, family planning, and routine well-woman health care according to Scope of Practice.

QUALIFICATIONS

Certified as a Nurse Practitioner

Currently licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse- Nurse Practitioner in Colorado.

Possesses a minimum of a master's degree in nursing.

Meets continuing competency criteria of certifying organization

Certified in BLS and NRP.


LINES OF AUTHORITY

Responsible to the Birth Center Clinical Director (CNM Director) for both administrative and clinical functions.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Participates in direct patient care activities.

Manages the care of families in all areas of maternity, newborn, and well-woman care, according to the standards of the American College of Nurse-Midwives, the American Association of Birth Centers, and the policies, procedures, and clinical practice guidelines of Beginnings Birth Center.

Performs skills as listed on the NP Skills Checklist found in the NP's EHR Profile. Functions based upon the best-available evidence and consistent with current national standards of practice for specific medications and treatments for well-woman care, the antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn periods.

Keeps a cell phone in working condition with hotspot availability in the event of workplace internet outage notifies CNM Director of any contact information changes.

Participates in administrative activities including staff meetings, regular chart reviews.

Participates in continuous quality improvement activities including emergency drills (at least 3 of 4 annual trainings and at least 4/12 monthly drills) and in-service programs,

Serves as an advocate for nurse-midwifery and community birth in contact with media, the public, and other health professionals.

Perform any other duties assigned by the CNM Director, Administrator, or Manager.

Participates in at least one professional organization locally or nationally and reports back to Beginnings Birth Center Team

Participates in or creates at least 1 birth center community outreach activity per year and reports back to Beginnings Birth Center Team

Serves as a liaison/participant between Beginnings Birth Center and one local organization per year and reports back to Beginnings Birth Center Team

Participates in peer review through smooth transitions or other protected peer review forum outside of the birth center at least once per year

The employee is frequently required to stand for long periods of time; walk; use hands to finger, handle, feel or control; and reach with hands and arms. Bend, stretch, twist and move two or more limbs together (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while remaining in place.

The employee must be able to make quick, precise adjustments to machine controls.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee Be physically active for long periods without getting tired or out of breath.

The employee must be able to use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
