- Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including patient history, mental status examinations, and physiological evaluations to inform diagnosis and treatment planning
- Prescribe and manage medications within the scope of practice, adhering to DEA regulations and clinical guidelines
- Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals across disciplines to develop integrated treatment plans tailored to individual needs
- Provide evidence-based psychotherapy, medication management, and crisis intervention for patients across outpatient, inpatient, or telehealth settings
- Document all patient interactions accurately using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks, ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies to foster engagement and adherence
- Participate in clinical research initiatives or quality improvement projects aimed at advancing psychiatric care practices
Skills
- Proven experience working with diverse populations including children, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those in hospice & palliative medicine
- Strong knowledge of psychiatric medications, psychopharmacology, and medication administration protocols
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for efficient documentation and data management
- Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluation techniques
- Skilled in crisis management techniques such as triage and acute pain management in high-pressure environments like emergency rooms or Level I Trauma Centers
- Knowledge of medical procedures including IV infusion, venipuncture, sterile processing, suturing, spinal taps, catheterization, and airway management
- Experience collaborating under collaborative practice agreements within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Strong understanding of healthcare diagnosis coding systems including ICD-10/ICD-9/CPT coding for accurate billing and documentation
- Excellent client communication skills with a focus on health coaching and patient education strategies
- Familiarity with telehealth platforms for remote patient care delivery in compliance with HIPAA regulations
