Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
Location: Murrieta, CA
Employment Type: Full-Time, In-Person
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM
Compensation: $155,000-$165,000 annually + Benefits
Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, clinically strong Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join a growing behavioral health practice in Murrieta, CA.
This is a full-time, in-person position supporting patients with a range of mental health needs in a collaborative outpatient setting. The ideal candidate will be comfortable conducting psychiatric evaluations, managing medications, developing treatment plans, and working closely with therapists, physicians, and other members of the clinical team.
We are looking for a provider who is patient-centered, organized, clinically confident, and able to build strong therapeutic relationships while maintaining high standards of documentation and care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and mental health assessments.
- Diagnose and treat psychiatric and behavioral health conditions within scope of practice.
- Prescribe, manage, and monitor psychotropic medications.
- Develop and update individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and clinical presentation.
- Provide medication-management follow-up appointments and monitor treatment response.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment options, and potential side effects.
- Monitor for changes in symptoms, medication effectiveness, adverse reactions, and safety concerns.
- Collaborate with therapists, physicians, nurses, and other clinical professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Review relevant medical history, laboratory results, and clinical documentation as part of ongoing treatment.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough clinical documentation in the electronic health record.
- Participate in case consultation, treatment planning, and interdisciplinary meetings as needed.
- Identify higher levels of care or additional services when clinically appropriate.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, clinical standards, organizational policies, and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Support a professional, compassionate, and patient-focused treatment environment.
Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner license.
- Current certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Current DEA registration, or ability to obtain one as required for the position.
- Experience providing psychiatric evaluations and medication management.
- Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology and common psychiatric diagnoses.
- Previous experience in outpatient psychiatry, behavioral health, mental health, or a related clinical setting preferred.
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently within scope of practice.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Comfortable working with patients who may present with complex or co-occurring behavioral health conditions.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and professional ethical standards.
Compensation & Benefits
Annual Salary: $155,000-$165,000, depending on experience
