Nurse Practitioner Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in urgent care, emergency medicine, family practice, or a similar acute-care setting
- Qualified Nurse Practitioners may include FNP or ACNP providers; qualified Physician Assistants may also be considered
- Active Nurse Practitioner license in Washington, DC
- Active DEA registration and Washington, DC CSR
- Current AHA life-support certifications
- Current ACLS certification, unless board certified in Emergency Medicine
Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with common urgent care conditions
- Provide comprehensive outpatient care for patients across a broad age range
- Perform focused patient histories, physical examinations, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment planning
- Order and interpret appropriate laboratory tests and imaging studies
- Perform minor procedures and provide patient education, follow-up recommendations, and referrals when indicated
- Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in the Cerner EMR
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and other members of the healthcare team
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care during scheduled daytime coverage
