Job description

Our client, a highly reputable healthcare provider known for comprehensive patient care, is hiring a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). This role offers an opportunity to deliver anesthetic care in a supportive and professional environment, collaborating closely with anesthesiologists to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The CRNA will be responsible for inducing and maintaining anesthesia for patients of all ages undergoing surgical, diagnostic, or therapeutic procedures. Under supervision, the CRNA will perform preoperative assessments, insert intravenous lines, execute airway management, and monitor patients throughout procedures, ensuring safety and compliance with established protocols. The position is integral to delivering high-quality anesthesia services in a dynamic clinical setting.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct preoperative visits, review medical histories, and assess patients' suitability for anesthesia.
  • Consult with surgeons or anesthesiologists on high-risk cases.
  • Insert IV lines and administer medicated fluids prior to surgery.
  • Perform intratracheal intubation and induce anesthesia in coordination with supervising anesthesiologists.
  • Monitor vital signs and adjust anesthesia levels as needed during procedures.
  • Manage intravenous blood transfusions and administer medications precisely.
  • Observe and stabilize patients post-operation, preparing them for transfer to recovery.
  • Maintain anesthesia equipment and supplies, ensuring proper functionality and sterility.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with completion of an 18-month anesthesia course recognized by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
  • Successful completion of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists qualifying exam and certification recognition by the State Board of Certified Nurse Anesthetists.
  • Valid NYS nursing license and certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
  • Minimum of three to six months of orientation, with familiarity of departmental policies and anesthesia techniques.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to diagnose, monitor, and care for patients effectively.
  • Additional preferred qualifications include prior experience in a hospital setting and proficiency with anesthesia equipment.
  • Must possess current licensure and certification to practice in New York State.
