Requirements- Board-certified or board-eligible Pediatric Critical Care physician
- Pediatric Critical Care fellowship training
- Active Indiana medical license
- Active BLS and PALS certifications
- Ability to supervise APPs
- Willingness to participate in resident or clinical teaching
- Experience managing critically ill pediatric and neonatal patients
Required Clinical Skills- Invasive and noninvasive ventilation
- Acute and chronic ventilator management
- Nitric-oxide therapy and ECMO
- Newborn and pediatric intubation
- Conscious and deep sedation
- Bronchoscopy with BAL
- Central, arterial, UVC, UAC, and PA catheter placement
- Chest-tube insertion and needle decompression
- Lumbar puncture, paracentesis, and thoracentesis
- ICP evaluation, management, and monitor placement
- Hemodialysis catheter placement
- Temporary pacemaker management
- Exchange transfusion
- X-ray and EKG interpretation
Clinical Details- Approximately 8 Äì12 patients per shift
- Approximately five phone consultations
- Approximately eight patients seen during call
- Approximately two admissions
- 8-bed department
- Level II trauma environment
- Nursing ratios range from 1:1 to 3:1
- Support includes two APPs
