Staff Pathologist (AP/CP) Modesto, CA Position Summary We are seeking a Board-Certified Anatomic and Clinical Pathologist (AP/CP) to join our team as a Staff Pathologist. In this role, you will provide comprehensive anatomic and clinical pathology services while serving as a key member of a collaborative physician team dedicated to delivering high-quality diagnostic care. The Staff Pathologist is responsible for evaluating a broad range of pathology specimens, providing expert consultation to clinicians, and contributing to quality initiatives that support exceptional patient outcomes. The ideal candidate is an experienced diagnostician who values collaboration, clinical excellence, and continuous professional growth. Job Responsibilities Evaluate, interpret, and diagnose a broad range of anatomic pathology specimens, including surgical pathology and cytology cases. Provide expert pathology consultation and communicate clinically significant findings to referring physicians and healthcare providers. Prepare accurate, timely, and comprehensive pathology reports in accordance with established medical standards and best practices. Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, oncologists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to support patient diagnosis and treatment planning. Manage a diverse pathology caseload while maintaining high standards of diagnostic accuracy and efficiency. Exercise sound independent medical judgment while working collaboratively with fellow pathologists and clinical staff. Participate in quality assurance, quality control, and quality improvement initiatives to ensure excellence in pathology services. Maintain compliance with all applicable accreditation, regulatory, and organizational standards. Participate in peer review activities, case discussions, and multidisciplinary conferences as appropriate. Maintain complete, accurate, and timely pathology documentation and medical records. Participate in continuing medical education and remain current with advancements in pathology, diagnostic technologies, and evidence-based practices. Contribute to a collaborative, professional, and collegial work environment. Job Requirements / Qualifications Required Qualifications Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution. Board Certification in Anatomic Pathology (AP) and Clinical Pathology (CP). Active California medical license or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to employment. Strong diagnostic expertise in surgical pathology and clinical pathology. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Commitment to providing exceptional patient care and maintaining the highest standards of medical practice. Preferred Qualifications Two to four (2-4) years of experience in a pathology practice or comparable clinical setting. Fellowship training in one or more surgical pathology subspecialties, including but not limited to: Cytopathology Breast Pathology Gastrointestinal (GI) Pathology Gynecologic Pathology Other relevant pathology subspecialties Experience working in a high-volume pathology practice with diverse case complexity. Demonstrated participation in quality improvement, peer review, or laboratory accreditation activities. Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based pathology practice.
