The Medical Review Team is seeking a Medical Consultant to provide high-level clinical guidance, policy consultation, and final Medicaid disability determinations. In this role, you will evaluate comprehensive medical and social histories to render definitive decisions that directly support the state's most vulnerable residents, strictly adhering to State and Federal Medicaid guidelines.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:• Disability Determinations: Review comprehensive applicant packets, social histories, and complex medical documentation to render final, legally defensible decisions regarding Medicaid disability.
• Clinical Guidance: Serve as the subject matter expert for the broader administrative and clinical Medical Review Team, ensuring consistent, high-quality decision-making across all cases.
• Policy & Process Development: Assist in the structural creation, optimization, and implementation of internal medical policies and clinical evaluation procedures.
• Training & Presentation: Design and conduct clinical presentations, lead staff training modules, and deliver actionable case feedback to consultants and internal state agencies.
Job Requirements & Qualifications:Mandatory Criteria (Required):• Education: Doctorate of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
• Licensure: A current, active, and completely unencumbered license to practice medicine in the State of Indiana.
• Experience: A minimum of 5 years of clinical or relevant medical practice experience.
• Core Competencies: Proactively interpret all forms of complex medical evidence, exercise sound independent judgment, and safely navigate digital medical documentation databases.
Operational Constraints & Working Conditions
• Environment: Non-medical, standard administrative office setting. Physical demands are minimal (primarily sitting, walking, and light data tracking).
• Workload: High flexibility is required to adjust to shifting weekly case volumes while maintaining meticulous attention to statutory details.
