Job description

A respected behavioral health program in Billings, Montana is seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatrist for a six-month outpatient assignment with call responsibilities. Practice Setting

Providers will primarily practice in an adult outpatient behavioral health clinic delivering comprehensive psychiatric care, evaluations, medication management, and treatment planning.

The clinic is supported by a collaborative team of psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, therapists, nursing staff, and administrative professionals focused on providing high-quality behavioral healthcare.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations
  • Diagnose and treat a broad range of psychiatric disorders
  • Provide ongoing medication management
  • Develop individualized treatment plans
  • Manage anxiety, mood, and psychotic disorders
  • Treat patients with ADHD, personality disorders, and developmental disorders
  • Coordinate care with therapists, nursing staff, and behavioral health providers
  • Complete psychiatric documentation within Meditech
  • Participate in on-call coverage and inpatient behavioral health rounding as scheduled
  • Provide consultation and treatment recommendations for behavioral health patients
Schedule

40 Hours Per Week

  • Monday-Friday
  • 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Weekend Call
  • Approximately one weekend every 6-7 weeks
  • Friday 5:00 PM through Monday 8:00 AM
  • Primarily phone coverage for new admissions
  • Inpatient rounding responsibilities as needed
Additional Details
  • Start Date: November 2026
  • Six-month contract assignment
  • Consistent weekday schedule
  • Limited call burden
Patient Volume & Support
  • Approximately 7-14 patients per day
  • Appointment lengths range from 20-120 minutes depending on visit type
  • Collaborative clinical team includes:
    • 2 Psychiatrists
    • 1 Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
    • 2 Licensed Therapists
  • Dedicated support staff:
    • Registered Nurses
    • Front office personnel
    • Clinic leadership
  • Behavioral Health Unit census averages approximately 12 patients
Qualifications Required
  • MD or DO
  • Board-Certified Psychiatry through ABPN
  • Active Montana Medical License or eligibility through IMLC
  • Active DEA Registration
  • BLS Certification
  • Completion of an accredited Psychiatry Residency Program
  • Experience treating adult psychiatric populations
Preferred
  • Fellowship training
  • Outpatient Psychiatry experience
  • Inpatient Psychiatry experience
  • Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry experience
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary behavioral health programs
