We are looking for a Board-Certified General Surgeon for an exciting locum tenens opportunity in southern California, near Santa Monica. This position offers a mix of inpatient and outpatient surgical care, with a focus on providing high-quality services to patients in a scenic coastal area.
Position Details:
- Location: Near Santa Monica, California
- Start Date: January 1, 2025
- End Date: Ongoing
- Coverage Type: Scheduled clinical hours with call coverage
- Shift Details: Monday through Friday (8 AM to 5 PM), with night and weekend beeper call
- On-Call Requirements: Beeper call, usually one call per day; rarely requires a physical visit to the facility
Specialty Focus:
- General Surgery with a focus on Oncology Breast Surgery
- Surgeries required: Lumpectomy, mastectomies (including nipple-sparing mastectomy), sentinel node biopsy, and axillary dissection
- Experience: Providers must have extensive experience in breast surgery and be comfortable handling both high-risk and benign breast disease
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide inpatient and outpatient surgical care
- Perform a variety of general surgery procedures, with a strong focus on breast oncology
- Collaborate in joint oncoplastic surgeries as needed
- Handle both scheduled and emergency surgical cases
Required Certifications:
- Board Certification in General Surgery
- BLS certification
- California State Medical License (or eligibility)
Additional Information:
- EMR System: Epic
- Estimated Credentialing Timeframe: 60-90 days
- No travel reimbursement for licensing or credentialing
- Fellowship in breast surgery preferred, but general surgeons with extensive breast surgery experience will also be considered
