- Overnight backup call with callback as needed
- Preferred availability: 7 10 consecutive days per month
- 7 on/7 off call rotation
Support Staff: 3 PA/NPs and 2 RNs
Board Certification: Board Certified Pediatrician
License: Active North Dakota medical license
Fellowship: Preferred
Certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS required
Patient Population: Pediatrics and Newborn Nursery
Average Census: Approximately 11 patients
Typical Admissions: 1 3 per shift
Call Details:
- Backup call with approximately 2 phone consults per 24 hours
- 1 2 callbacks/admissions when needed
- Callback rate under 10%
- 20-minute response time
Position Overview:
An established pediatric hospitalist service is seeking a Locum Tenens Pediatric Hospitalist for ongoing inpatient coverage. The role includes daytime rounding, newborn nursery coverage, overnight backup call, and collaboration with an experienced clinical team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide inpatient pediatric hospitalist coverage
- Manage assigned pediatric and newborn patients
- Cover Level I and Level II nursery patients
- Attend high-risk deliveries and C-sections as needed
- Respond to overnight backup call
- Collaborate with PA/NP support and hospital staff
Required Skills:

- Pediatric airway and ventilation management
- Non-invasive ventilation (CPAP/BiPAP)
- Pediatric intubation

Additional Notes:
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Hospitalist experience required.
- New graduates will not be considered.
- Overnight call is primarily supported by an APRN/PA, with physician backup as needed.
- Travel and lodging support available.
