A growing behavioral health organization is seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatrist to serve as its Regional Medical Director for New Jersey.

This role combines executive clinical leadership with direct patient care. The physician will help build and oversee the New Jersey clinical operation while maintaining a focused outpatient practice centered on complex mood disorders, treatment-resistant depression, and interventional psychiatry.

Position Overview

The role is structured approximately 50% leadership and 50% clinical care.

On the leadership side, the Regional Medical Director will help recruit and develop the clinical team, oversee physicians and advanced practice providers, establish clinical standards, monitor quality and safety, and partner with leadership on regional growth.

Clinical responsibilities will include outpatient psychiatric evaluations, medication management, complex psychopharmacology, and management of patients receiving Spravato / esketamine therapy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership for the New Jersey market
  • Recruit, interview, and onboard psychiatrists, PMHNPs, therapists, and other clinicians
  • Supervise and mentor physicians and advanced practice providers
  • Conduct chart reviews and provide clinical consultation
  • Maintain high standards for documentation, prescribing, patient safety, and quality
  • Support regulatory and clinical compliance
  • Help develop and expand the organization's interventional psychiatry program
  • Evaluate and treat adult psychiatric patients
  • Manage treatment-resistant depression and complex mood disorders
  • Oversee Spravato / esketamine treatment and related clinical protocols
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams on patient care and regional operations
Qualifications
  • MD or DO
  • Board Certified in Psychiatry
  • Active, unrestricted New Jersey medical license
  • Active DEA registration
  • Strong outpatient psychiatry and medication-management experience
  • Experience supervising or leading clinical teams
  • Strong knowledge of depression, mood disorders, and psychopharmacology
  • Comfortable working within modern EHR, telehealth, and technology-enabled healthcare systems
Preferred Background

Experience in one or more of the following is highly desirable:

  • Spravato / esketamine
  • TMS, ketamine, or other interventional psychiatry services
  • Medical Director or physician-leadership roles
  • Physician and APP supervision
  • Clinical program development
  • Provider recruitment
  • Quality improvement and clinical performance metrics

Direct interventional psychiatry experience is preferred but is not mandatory for an accomplished psychiatrist who is motivated to help build and lead the program.

Compensation & Benefits
  • $240,000 $600,000 compensation range
  • Executive leadership compensation plus clinical production opportunity
  • Malpractice coverage
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off
  • Hybrid administrative flexibility
