Potential Extension: Yes
Schedule: 39 hours/week

Shift:
  • 13-hour rotating day/night shifts
  • Day: 6:00 AM 7:00 PM
  • Night: 6:00 PM 7:00 AM
  • The team generally avoids scheduling day and night shifts within the same week.
  • Approximately 50% days / 50% nights
  • Weekends and holidays as needed
  • Call/Callback required
Position Overview
A leading Pediatric Cardiac Care Center in NY is seeking an experienced Pediatric Cardiac ICU Nurse Practitioner for a locums assignment.

The 16-bed acuity-adaptable Pediatric Cardiac Care Center cares for critically ill pediatric patients with congenital heart disease. The APP serves in a primary covering provider role and works closely with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.

Clinical Responsibilities:
The APP team manages a broad range of high-acuity pediatric cardiac patients, including:

  • Pre- and post-operative pediatric cardiac surgical patients
  • Complex congenital heart disease
  • High-risk single-ventricle physiology
  • Open chest management
  • Arrhythmia management
  • Vasopressor support
  • External and internal pacemakers
  • VA/VV ECMO
  • CRRT
  • PICU boarder patients
  • Adult congenital heart disease patients requiring medical or post-operative management

The role requires strong critical-care knowledge and ICU procedural skills, although the position is not primarily procedural.

Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU APP experience
  • Strong knowledge of complex cardiac anatomy and physiology
  • Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Active New York State RN license in good standing
  • Active New York State NP license in good standing
  • Current national NP certification
  • BLS certification
  • PALS certification
  • Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification preferred


The ideal candidate is adaptable, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced pediatric critical-care environment. Candidates should be confident managing complex congenital cardiac patients and working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
