Ophthalmologist Role Overview:

As an Ophthalmologist at the Fresno VA, you will provide comprehensive eye care diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide range of ophthalmic conditions for veteran patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. You ll perform surgical procedures, outpatient consultations, and collaborate across specialties, contributing meaningfully to the health and wellness of our local veteran community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver medical and surgical eye care to veterans, including cataract, glaucoma, and other ophthalmic procedures.
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient consultations and referrals as needed.
  • Interpret diagnostic tests, imaging, and manage acute and chronic ocular diseases.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and collaborate closely with other specialties and optometry.
  • Supervise, teach, and mentor optometry residents, and medical students.
  • Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives and adhere to established best practices.
  • Maintain precise and timely medical documentation in accordance with VA policies.
  • Provide call coverage to support care of veterans after hours/weekends
