Veterinary Assistant - Balboa Veterinary Medical Center!

Who We're Looking For

We are currently looking to hire a Veterinary Assistant to join our team! In the role of Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist, you will be a vital part of our veterinary clinic, utilizing your core skills in veterinary experience, animal handling, and veterinary terminology to provide exceptional care to our furry patients. Your premium skills in animal husbandry, aseptic technique, and laboratory experience will be instrumental in supporting critical care procedures and ensuring the well-being of animals under our care. With relevant skills in dog training and pet grooming, you will also contribute to enhancing the overall experience for our clients and their beloved pets. Qualifications
  • Experience as a veterinary technician, assistant, or hold an RVT License.
  • Strong animal handling skills and knowledge of clinical procedures.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT, RVT, or LVT) preferred or eligibility to obtain licensure based on state requirements.
  • A degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities: - Greet and welcome clients and their pets to the veterinary clinic - Answer phone calls and schedule appointments - Provide excellent customer service by addressing client inquiries and concerns - Maintain accurate records of client information and pet medical history - Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with various tasks as needed - Handle financial transactions, including processing payments - Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception area

Requirements: - Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is preferred, but we will train the right candidate - Knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures - Ability to handle animals with care and compassion - Familiarity with veterinary critical care and aseptic technique is a plus - Strong communication skills, both verbal and written - Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations - Proficiency in computer systems and software used for scheduling appointments and managing client information
