As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you are responsible for performing a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to support healthcare providers in delivering high-quality patient care. This role requires a combination of medical knowledge, technical skills, and strong interpersonal abilities. We are looking for someone who thrives on patient care and compassion as you will be responsible for ensuring the well-being of patients and for providing a positive, supportive environment for patients and other staff while working in conjunction with physicians, advanced practitioners, front office and clinical staff. You will be responsible for skills, knowledge as a Physician Therapist for patient care. Orthopedic or Pain Medicine experience preferred. Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)
We are seeking a high-energy, licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to provide exceptional, hands-on orthopedic care and streamline daily clinical operations at our private spine and orthopedic practice.
Position Overview
In this role, you will work directly under the supervision of our Physical Therapists to implement customized treatment plans for patients recovering from spinal surgeries, sports injuries, and complex orthopedic conditions. You will balance direct clinical patient care with essential clinic maintenance to ensure an efficient, welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Care Implementation
- Deliver therapeutic exercises and progression protocols as outlined by the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Perform manual techniques, stretching, and soft tissue mobilization within your licensed scope of practice.
- Apply modalities including ultrasound, electrical stimulation, mechanical traction, and heat/ice therapies.
- Monitor, document, and report patient response, tolerance, and progress during each session.
Patient Operations & Support
- Greet patients, guide them to treatment areas, and assist with safe transfers or mobility guarding.
- Instruct and correct patients on proper biomechanics and exercise form.
- Act as a motivational partner, keeping patients engaged and comfortable throughout their recovery.
Clinic Maintenance & Administration
- Clean, sanitize, and reset treatment tables, pillowcases, and exercise equipment between patient uses.
- Manage clinical inventory by tracking, ordering, and stocking therapy supplies and linens.
- Assist the front desk with scheduling, patient check-ins, or phone inquiries during peak hours.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program.
- Licensure: Active Florida Physical Therapist Assistant license in good standing.
- Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification.
- Skills: Excellent communication, strong organizational abilities, and a warm, empathetic patient manner.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience: 1+ years of experience in an outpatient orthopedic, spine, or sports medicine setting.
- Tech Skills: Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software and digital home exercise program (HEP) platforms.
- Experience in Aquatic therapy for Delray location but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Mobility: Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
- Strength: Capability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with heavy patient transfers or resistance training.
