Locum Tenens Opportunity: Emergency Medicine - Urgent Care Physician Near Wausau, WI
We are currently seeking a qualified Emergency Medicine physician specializing in Urgent Care for a locum tenens position near Wausau, WI. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a combined Emergency Department (ED) and Urgent Care setting at a tertiary Level II hospital. We are looking for coverage starting ASAP and continuing on an ongoing basis.

Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Hours:
- Coverage is needed for variable shifts including 6 AM to 6 PM and 6 PM to 6 AM, seven days a week.
- Double coverage shifts are available Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 10 PM, and Saturday through Sunday from 11 AM to 10 PM.
- Typical shifts are 12 hours long.
Patient Load:
- The average patient volume is approximately 140 patients per shift.
- The facility has a combined total of 38 beds in the ED and Urgent Care.
Qualifications:
- Board certification in Emergency Medicine is required.
- ABEM certification is mandatory for this role.
- An active Wisconsin (WI) medical license is needed.
- Certifications in ACLS, ATLS, and BLS are required, while ABLS and PALS are not.
APC Coverage:
- At least one Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) is available in the Urgent Care from 7:30 AM to 12:00 AM, with several overlapping shifts.
EMR System:
- The facility uses Cerner for electronic medical records.
Additional Details:
- The position does not include on-call responsibilities.
- Temporary privileges are available with an estimated credentialing timeframe of 60 days if the credentialing file is clean.
