PATIENT INFORMATION
•
Patient Demographics: All ages, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
•
Patient Volume/Census: Approximately 9,000 to 26,000 annual emergency department visits, depending on the assigned location
•
Case Mix: General and critical emergency medicine cases, including stroke, heart attack, abdominal pain, back pain, lacerations, sprains, fractures, infections, trauma, and other acute conditions
•
Pediatric Transfers: Complex pediatric cases are transferred to higher-level facilities in Corpus Christi or San Antonio
FACILITY INFORMATION
•
No. of Beds in Department: Approximately 9 to 14 beds or treatment rooms, depending on the assigned location
•
Trauma Level: Level III at the hospital-based emergency department
•
EMR System: Cerner
•
Office Equipment Available: Laboratory services, X-ray, CT, ultrasound, MRI, trauma rooms, negative-pressure rooms, and cardiac treatment rooms, depending on location
•
Specialty Backup Available: Cardiology/Cath Lab, ICU, Psychiatry, OB/GYN, Neurosurgery, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Urology, Trauma Services, Physical Therapy, and Radiology
•
Support Staff Available: Registered nurses and APP coverage ranging from 12 to 20 hours daily, depending on location

Candidate Clearance: Candidate must be cleared for all four associated emergency department locations

• Emergency airway management and resuscitation

JOB REQUIREMENTS
•
Licenses: Current and unrestricted Texas medical license
•
Board: ABEM board certification required for the hospital-based emergency department; ABEM, ABFM, or ABIM board certification accepted at the freestanding locations
•
DEA: Active DEA certification
•
Certifications: Current ATLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
•
Experience: Minimum of two years of emergency room experience required for ABFM or ABIM physicians at applicable locations
•
Other Qualifications: Ability to provide care across multiple emergency department locations and proficiency with Cerner preferred
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with acute illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies
• Perform emergency procedures, resuscitation, trauma stabilization, and airway management as clinically appropriate
• Order and interpret diagnostic testing, including laboratory studies and medical imaging
• Coordinate specialty consultations, hospital admissions, and patient transfers when higher-level care is required
• Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation in Cerner
• Collaborate with APPs, nurses, specialists, laboratory personnel, and radiology staff to ensure efficient patient care
• Stabilize complex pediatric patients and coordinate transfers to appropriate pediatric facilities when necessary
