Locums - Fort Myers, Florida Gastroenterologist Opening

Clinical Role

Join an established Gastroenterology service in Fort Myers, Florida, providing inpatient and outpatient coverage across multiple locations. This opportunity includes scheduled inpatient coverage with the possibility of ongoing assignments.

The provider will round on GI consultations and follow-up patients, perform GI procedures as needed, and participate in call coverage. Providers must be willing to cover both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Provide onsite Gastroenterology coverage
  • Round on GI consultations
  • Round on follow-up patients
  • Evaluate and manage inpatient GI patients
  • Perform GI procedures as needed
  • Perform colonoscopies
  • Perform endoscopic procedures
  • Perform inpatient EUS when qualified
  • Perform ERCP when qualified
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient coverage
  • Coordinate patient care with the hospital and surgical teams
  • Communicate with anesthesia and other healthcare providers
  • Document patient care appropriately

Patient Volume

  • Approximately 8-12 GI consultations per day
  • Approximately 2-8 GI procedures per day
  • Daily volume varies based on demand

  • GI endoscopic procedures
  • Colonoscopy
  • Upper endoscopy
  • Inpatient EUS - Preferred, not required
  • ERCP - Preferred, not required

Call Responsibilities

Call frequency varies based on the assigned location.

  • May be every night

Call Scope:

  • Inpatient GI consultations
  • GI emergencies
  • Urgent GI procedures
  • Inpatient patient management
  • Follow-up care

Support & Team

The provider will work with available support staff and fully staffed surgical suites. Anesthesiologists participate in all procedures.

Requirements

  • Board Certified Gastroenterologist - Required
  • Ability to perform GI endoscopic procedures
  • Ability to provide inpatient coverage
  • Willingness to provide outpatient coverage
  • Ability to participate in variable inpatient call
  • Ability to manage GI consultations and follow-up patients
  • Ability to perform colonoscopy and endoscopy

Credentialing

Board Certification is required.
