Locums - Nashville, Tennessee Emergency Medicine Opportunity

Clinical Role

Join an established emergency medicine team at a suburban freestanding emergency department in Nashville, Tennessee. This locums opportunity offers on-site emergency medicine coverage in a 12-bed facility with a lower-volume patient population. Providers should be comfortable functioning independently in an FSED environment following a limited 2-4 hour orientation.

Shift Options:

  • 6:00 AM-6:00 PM
  • 6:00 PM-6:00 AM

Coverage Requirements:

  • Emergency medicine coverage at a freestanding emergency department
  • Limited orientation of approximately 2-4 hours
  • Must be comfortable functioning independently in an FSED
  • One EM physician typically on staff per shift
  • Standard ED procedures required
  • No trauma center

Practice Setting:

Freestanding Emergency Department

Suburban setting

Non-trauma facility

Facility Details:

12 beds

Patient Volume:

  • Less than 30 patients per day
  • Fewer than 10 admissions per day

Patient Population:

Suburban FSED patients

ED patients with limited scheduled return follow-up when needed

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and treat emergency department patients
  • Manage acute and emergent conditions
  • Perform standard emergency department procedures
  • Perform procedural sedation
  • Perform intubations
  • Place central lines
  • Manage patients requiring advanced emergency interventions
  • Provide appropriate disposition and follow-up
  • Function independently in a freestanding emergency department

Procedures

Required Procedures:

  • All standard emergency department procedures
  • Procedural sedation
  • Intubation
  • Central line placement
  • Other advanced emergency medicine procedures as clinically indicated

Coverage & Support

Physician Coverage:

One EM physician typically on staff per shift

Support Staff:

  • 2-3 registered nurses
  • Radiology technician

Orientation:

Approximately 2-4 hours

Requirements

  • Must have graduated from an Emergency Medicine residency - Required
  • ABEM Certified or ABEM Eligible - Required
  • Must be comfortable working independently in a freestanding emergency department
  • Full emergency medicine procedural competency required
