Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner

Position Overview
Digestive Disease Associates of Central Florida is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our hospital-based gastroenterology team in Wesley Chapel. This daytime, Monday Friday role offers 8-hour shifts and a balanced rounding model supporting GI care at AdventHealth Wesley Chapel and post-acute patients at AdventHealth Connerton.

This position is ideal for an APP who enjoys collaborative hospital-based care, a predictable weekday schedule, and the opportunity to support patients through both acute hospitalization and extended recovery. The role includes close collaboration with supervising gastroenterologists, hospital medicine teams, nursing staff, case management, and ancillary services.

Key Responsibilities

Perform GI rounds at AdventHealth Wesley Chapel and post-acute rounds at AdventHealth Connerton for patients with acute, chronic, and medically complex gastrointestinal conditions.

Obtain interval histories, perform focused examinations, review diagnostic information, and develop care plans in collaboration with supervising gastroenterologists.

Evaluate and help manage common GI concerns, including abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, dysphagia, GI bleeding, anemia, abnormal liver enzymes, cirrhosis-related concerns, constipation, diarrhea, pancreatitis, and inflammatory bowel disease.

Order, review, and interpret laboratory testing, imaging, pathology reports, and endoscopic findings to guide management and follow-up recommendations.

Support pre-procedural evaluation and post-procedural follow-up for patients undergoing EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP, PEG placement, and other GI procedures as appropriate.

Collaborate with hospitalists, surgeons, nursing teams, case management, dietitians, therapy services, and ancillary staff to coordinate care, follow-up, and discharge planning.

Complete timely, accurate, and compliant documentation while supporting quality, patient safety, communication, and continuity across care settings.

Qualifications

Current Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license, or eligibility for licensure, in Florida.

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.

Gastroenterology, hepatology, hospital medicine, internal medicine, or acute/post-acute care experience preferred.

Strong clinical judgment, communication, teamwork, and documentation skills.
