Gastroenterology Physician

We are actively seeking a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist for a 13-week locum tenens assignment in Bristol, Tennessee. This inpatient-focused opportunity offers a collaborative practice environment with APP support and a strong procedural volume, including ERCP cases.

• Dates of Need: Ongoing coverage beginning October 5, 2026, with current open dates extending through September 2027
• Shift Schedule: Monday 7:00 AM EST through Monday 7:00 AM EST
• Coverage Requirements: Weekly coverage across two Ballad Health locations (BRMC and HVMC)
• Call Requirements: 24-hour call required for each day of assignment
• Onsite Expectations:
  • Approximately 8-10 onsite hours per day
  • Monday-Friday clinical schedule
  • Weekend call coverage included
  • Night call consists primarily of beeper call and phone consultations
  • Rare after-hours return-to-hospital requirements

      • Bristol Regional Medical Center (BRMC) Endoscopy Suite
      • Holston Valley Medical Center (HVMC) Main OR/Endoscopy Suite
    • Patient Volume: Average 5-6 GI procedures per 24-hour call period; consult volume varies
    • Facility Size:
      • BRMC Bed Capacity: 348
      • HVMC Bed Capacity: 345
    • Patient Demographics: Primarily adults, with occasional patients under 18 years of age
    • Support Staff: Dedicated APP support (1:1 physician-to-APP model), OR staff, and in-house Endoscopy nurses
    • EMR System: Epic (experience preferred)
    
    Procedures & Competencies Required Core Procedures
    • General Gastroenterology procedures
    • ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography)
    • Inpatient GI consultations
    • Advanced endoscopic procedures
    • Management of GI emergencies and inpatient procedural needs
    Preferred Skills
    • Tennessee CSR
    • Prior Epic experience
    • Experience practicing in a hospital-based inpatient gastroenterology setting
      
      Acuity/Protocol Notes
      • Inpatient-only coverage
      • Provider must be highly experienced in General GI and ERCP procedures
      • Olympus endoscopy equipment utilized
      • Call responsibilities are primarily consultative after hours, with infrequent callback requirements
        
        Required Qualifications
        • Board Status: Board Certified in Gastroenterology
        • Licensure: Active Tennessee Medical License or IMLC eligibility required before confirmation
        • Certifications: Current ACLS and BLS certifications
        • DEA: Active Tennessee DEA required
        • CSR: Tennessee CSR preferred
        • Experience: Extensive experience with all General GI and ERCP cases and procedures required
        • Background Requirements: Clean background and malpractice history preferred for streamlined credentialing

      • Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 60-90 days with active licensure and clean background history

      Compensation & Travel
      • Rate: $5,500 per 24-hour call shift
      • Callback Rate: $550 per hour
      • Travel & Lodging: All travel expenses are billable and reimbursed
      • Orientation: All hours billable
