Locums - Memphis, Tennessee - Cardiac Anesthesiologist Job

Clinical Role:

• Seeking a board certified or truly board eligible cardiac anesthesiologist
• TEE certification required
• Six-month commitment with a 30-day notice requirement
• Work for a nationwide anesthesiology group
• Coverage across multiple hospitals in the Memphis, Tennessee, area and Olive Branch, Mississippi
• EMR: Cerner (transitioning to Epic)

Schedule:

• Primarily Monday-Friday
• Limited weekend coverage
• Focus on 10-hour shifts
• Some 12-hour shifts available
• Limited 24-hour shifts
• In-house and beeper call available depending on service needs
• Call opportunities available but frequency varies based on scheduling needs

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Comfortable supervising CRNAs approximately two-thirds of the time and performing personally administered anesthetics approximately one-third of the time
• Practice model varies by location and includes:
  • 1:0

  • 1:1
  • 1:2
  • 1:3
  • 1:4
• Must be comfortable practicing independently and in a care team model

Cases & Procedures:

• Cardiac anesthesia with TEE
• Transplant anesthesia
• Neuroanesthesia (cranial and spine)
• General surgery
• Orthopedics
• ENT
• Vascular surgery
• Urology
• Gynecology
• Non-Operating Room Anesthesia (NORA):
  • GI
  • Cardiac Cath Lab
  • Interventional Radiology
  • Additional procedural areas

Required Skills:

• Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE)
• Epidural anesthesia
• Spinal anesthesia
• Ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia including:
  • Brachial plexus blocks
  • Femoral/sciatic blocks
  • Ankle blocks
  • Wrist blocks
  • Additional regional techniques

Requirements:

• Board certified or truly board eligible in anesthesiology
• Fellowship training or significant experience in cardiac anesthesia
• TEE certification required
• Active Tennessee medical license preferred (Mississippi license also highly desired)
• DEA required
• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS
• Must provide 50 hospital-based anesthesia case logs from the most recent consecutive 12 months
• Clean malpractice history required

Credentialing:

• Approximately 60-90 day credentialing process for full privileges
• Locums agency responsible for completing credentialing applications
• Locums agency responsible for obtaining required payor enrollment signatures
