Job description

Virtual Urgent Care Physician (1099) Cold & Flu Season 2026/2027 Position Overview

We are seeking board-certified Physicians to provide virtual urgent care services during the Cold & Flu season. This is a fully remote, 1099 contract opportunity with flexible scheduling options, making it an excellent fit for physicians looking for seasonal supplemental income or a full-time remote opportunity.

Physicians will evaluate and treat patients of all ages via video visits while working in a fast-paced, collaborative virtual care environment focused on delivering high-quality, evidence-based care.

Schedule & Contract

Contract Type: 1099 Seasonal Contract

Expected Start Dates:
August December 2026 (varies by provider)

Estimated Contract End:
February April 2027, depending on patient volume and business needs.

Scheduling Options

Part-Time

  • 20 hours/week
  • Weekday shifts generally between 3:00 PM 11:00 PM (local time)
  • Every other weekend (Saturday & Sunday)

Modified Full-Time

  • 32 hours/week
  • Weekday shifts between:
    • 6:00 AM 3:00 PM, or
    • 2:00 PM 11:00 PM
  • Every other weekend

Full-Time

  • 40 hours/week
  • Same weekday shift options
  • Every fourth weekend

Schedules are assigned based on business needs and patient demand.

Blackout Period: No extended time off is permitted during Thanksgiving week or between December 15, 2026 January 5, 2027.

Compensation
  • Base Pay: $90/hour
  • Productivity Bonus: $35 for each completed visit above the required productivity threshold

Example:
During an 8-hour shift, physicians are expected to complete at least 24 patient visits. Completing 30 visits would result in:

  • Base hourly compensation
  • Plus an additional $210 productivity bonus (6 additional visits $35)
Responsibilities
  • Provide virtual urgent care visits via secure video platform
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages
  • Obtain medical histories and perform virtual assessments
  • Order and interpret appropriate laboratory testing
  • Develop evidence-based treatment plans
  • Educate patients regarding diagnoses and treatment recommendations
  • Complete documentation within required timeframes
  • Maintain productivity, quality, and patient satisfaction standards
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams
Qualifications Required
  • MD or DO
  • Completion of an accredited 3-year residency (or equivalent)
  • Active ABMS or AOA Board Certification
  • Minimum 3 years of Urgent Care or high-volume Family Medicine experience
  • Comfortable treating pediatric and adult patients
  • Active unrestricted medical licenses in multiple states
  • IMLC participation or eligibility
  • Active Medicare status
  • Successful completion of USMLE
  • Excellent communication and technology skills
Multi-State Licensing Requirements

Candidates should possess 4 5 active state medical licenses.

Physicians must hold at least two licenses in the following priority states:

  • Alabama
  • Georgia
  • Indiana
  • Mississippi
  • Missouri
  • Oklahoma
  • South Carolina
  • Tennessee

Additional licenses are welcomed. Texas and Florida licenses are beneficial but do not satisfy the primary licensing requirement.

Productivity Expectations

Physicians should be comfortable practicing in a high-volume virtual environment.

Expected performance includes:

  • Approximately 2.5 3.5 patient visits per hour
  • Timely documentation
  • High patient satisfaction scores
  • Excellent attendance and schedule adherence

  • Two-day paid virtual training
  • Monday & Tuesday
  • 16 paid hours total
  • Begins at 9:30 AM CST
Equipment

Providers are responsible for supplying their own computer and home office equipment that meets technical requirements.
