Family Medicine Physician (Locum Tenens)

Southern Alabama Region (Mobile, Foley, & Frisco City Areas)

Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) Outpatient Primary Care Manageable Volume

Are you a Board Certified or Board Eligible Family Medicine Physician seeking a rewarding outpatient locum tenens opportunity in Alabama? Franklin Primary Health Centers is seeking a primary care physician to provide comprehensive care across its community-focused health centers. This position offers a predictable outpatient schedule, manageable patient daily volumes, and the opportunity to deliver vital, accessible healthcare to diverse populations across southern Alabama.

The Opportunity

Step into an established FQHC practice environment working alongside a collaborative clinical team dedicated to community health excellence.

  • Clinical Scope: Provide full-spectrum outpatient primary care to patients of all ages (pediatrics through geriatrics). Primary duties include:

    • Diagnosing and managing acute illnesses and complex chronic medical conditions.

    • Conducting annual wellness exams, routine physicals, and preventative health screenings.

    • Ordering and interpreting routine diagnostic labs and imaging.

    • Providing patient education, prescribing tailored treatment plans, and coordinating specialist referrals.

  • Procedural Expectations: Perform standard outpatient office procedures as clinically indicated, including:

    • Skin biopsies, cryotherapy, and wart removals

    • Incision and drainage (I&D) and abscess management

    • Joint injections

    • Laceration repairs and minor office-based surgical care

  • Patient Volume: Work at a comfortable, safe pace averaging 18 to 20 patients per day.

  • Locations: Rotational or assigned coverage across community health centers in Mobile, Foley (Baldwin County), or Frisco City, Alabama.

  • EMR System: Charting and ordering managed through OCHIN Epic.

Candidate Requirements
  • Board Status: Board Certified (BC) or Board Eligible (BE) in Family Medicine.

  • Licensure: Active, unencumbered Alabama State Medical License and active federal DEA registration.

  • Life Support: Active BLS certification.

  • Clinical Scope: Documented experience caring for both pediatric and adult/geriatric patient panels in an ambulatory primary care setting.

  • EHR Familiarity: Proficiency with electronic health records; direct experience with OCHIN Epic is preferred.
