Physician Radiation OncologistLocation: Biloxi, MS ,39534Schedule: Monday Friday Standard workday: Up to 8 hours per day Schedule changes require approval from the Chief of Radiation Oncology.Contract OverviewWe are seeking a Board-Certified Radiation Oncologist to provide comprehensive radiation oncology services at Keesler Air Force Base. The physician will deliver high-quality patient care, develop treatment plans, perform radiation oncology procedures, participate in multidisciplinary care, and maintain accurate clinical documentation while adhering to military treatment facility policies and national standards of care.
Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Care
• Review medical records, imaging, and diagnostic studies before patient appointments.
• Evaluate new and follow-up patients and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Coordinate care with military and civilian healthcare providers when appropriate.
• Utilize evidence-based national treatment guidelines and clinical best practices.
Radiation Oncology Services
Provide evaluation and treatment for a wide range of conditions, including:
• Breast cancer
• Genitourinary cancers
• Head and neck cancers
• Central nervous system tumors
• Gynecologic cancers
• Thoracic cancers
• Gastrointestinal cancers
• Hematologic malignancies
• Selected benign conditions requiring radiation therapy
Clinical Procedures
Must be proficient in:
• Nasopharyngoscopy
• Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT/SABR)
• Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS)
• Fractionated Stereotactic Radiation Therapy (FSRT)
• Total Body Irradiation (TBI)
• 3D Conformal Radiation Therapy
• Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT)
• Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT)
• Electron beam therapy
• Deep Inspiratory Breath Hold (DIBH)
• 4D CT simulation techniques
Treatment Planning
• Obtain informed consent before treatment.
• Supervise CT simulation procedures as required.
• Complete contouring within three (3) working days of simulation.
• Review treatment plans within one (1) working day after dosimetry completion.
• Review daily image guidance and ensure treatment accuracy and patient safety.
Clinical Documentation
• Complete and maintain timely documentation, including:
o History & Physicals
o Consultation notes
o Follow-up visits
o Treatment summaries
o On-treatment visit documentation
• Complete documentation within three (3) working days of each patient encounter.
Quality Assurance & Multidisciplinary Care
• Participate in:
o Weekly chart rounds
o Tumor board conferences
o Daily service meetings
o Quality assurance initiatives
o Peer review activities
o Clinical improvement programs
Education & Research
• Participate in resident and medical student education when authorized.
• Support clinical research and patient enrollment in clinical trials when applicable.
• Attend one Continuing Medical Education (CME) conference annually (up to one week).
Additional Responsibilities
• Follow CDC infection control and universal precaution guidelines.
• Assist with departmental quality improvement projects.
• Provide consultation and technical expertise to hospital committees when requested.
• Coordinate referrals to civilian providers in accordance with facility policies.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
• Successful completion of an accredited Radiation Oncology Residency
Experience• Minimum 24 months of Radiation Oncology experience within the past three (3) years
Board Certification
• Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR)
Licensure
• Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Mississippi
Certifications
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• No additional certifications required beyond residency training
