LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry Comprehensive Dentistry & Biomantl Department is seeking motivated applicants for the position of Dental Assistant 1 or 2.

Job Duties and Other Information


Duties and responsibilities included, but not limited to:




  • Assist dentists and dental students with chair side treatment of patients




  • Maintain and stock cabinet




  • Instruct and evaluate students in proper four-handed dentistry techniques




  • Chart patients according to LSU SD systems (Axium Computer knowledge)




  • Give fluoride treatments as directed by dentist or student




  • Give follow-up home instructions as directed by dentist or student




  • Check inventory and order supplies when needed.




  • Knowledgeable of computers.

Career Progression: This position is part of the career progression group May be filled as a Dental Assistant 1 or 2


Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; work hours will be determined by department.


Work Location: 1100 Florida Ave, New Orleans, LA 70119


Compensation: This is a Civil Service Position. There is a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $15.05 per hour for the Dental Assistant 2 title and $14.06 for the Dental Assistant 1 title with an additional $2.25 per hour worked available for candidates that hold a current DANB (Dental Assisting National Board) certification and or additional $1.50 for EDDA (Expanded Dental Duty Dental Assistant).
