Job description

OBGYN Locum Tenens Opportunity - Coastal North Carolina

We are seeking a Board Eligible or Board Certified OB/GYN physician for an excellent locum tenens opportunity at a well-supported community hospital in coastal North Carolina. This assignment offers immediate coverage needs in September with ongoing opportunities available for providers interested in recurring call coverage.

Assignment Highlights
  • Coverage Dates: September 11 at 8:00 AM through September 16 at 8:00 AM
  • Schedule: 24-hour call coverage
  • Ongoing coverage opportunities available
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified accepted
  • EMR: Meditech
  • Hospital-provided housing adjacent to the facility
  • Hospital-issued cell phone for call coverage
Clinical Responsibilities

The locum physician will provide solo OB/GYN call coverage while managing inpatient rounding and responding to obstetrical and gynecologic emergencies.

Responsibilities include:

  • Inpatient rounding
  • Vaginal deliveries
  • Emergent Cesarean sections
  • Emergent gynecologic procedures
  • Bread-and-butter OB/GYN care with no advanced specialty procedures required

Providers are required to remain within 20 minutes of the hospital while on call in accordance with hospital bylaws.

Practice Environment

This is a collaborative community hospital offering a broad range of medical and surgical services, including General Surgery, Orthopedics, Urology, Primary Care, and Women's Health. Physicians are supported by an experienced clinical team that includes:

  • Strong hospitalist program
  • 24/7 in-house anesthesiology coverage
  • 24/7 radiology coverage
Obstetrics Volume
  • Approximately 27 deliveries per month
  • Approximately 11 Cesarean sections per month
  • Average of 1-3 deliveries during each 24-hour call period
  • 3 labor rooms
  • 14 postpartum beds
Neonatal & High-Risk Care

The hospital maintains a Level I Nursery. High-risk pregnancies are limited to emergent situations, with patients requiring NICU services transferred to tertiary care centers approximately 30-45 minutes away.

Requirements
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology
  • Active state medical license (or ability to obtain)
  • COVID vaccination required (standard exemptions apply)
