Gastroenterology Physician

Locums - Gastroenterology

Location: Lakewood, Colorado (IMLC Accepted)

Critical Requirements

• Board Certified Gastroenterologist
• ERCP - REQUIRED
• Active Colorado license or IMLC
• EPIC EMR experience
• Inpatient GI/consult service experience

Coverage Need

• 3 providers needed

Availability (Specific Dates)

• Aug 1-8
• Jan 2027 ongoing dates will be presented once these dates have been filled.

Schedule

• 24-hour call (7:00 AM - 7:00 AM)
• All shifts end at 7:00 AM the following day
• 7 day stints is preferred, not a requirement going into 2027 for all locums

Practice Setting

• Inpatient
• Level I Trauma Center
• 24/7 hospitalists, intensivists, and trauma services available
• No dedicated GI support staff

Patient Volume

• 8-10 new consults and follow-ups per day
• 5-8 procedures (scopes) per day
• Patient population: Adult, geriatric, limited adolescent

Clinical Scope

• General GI consults
• Endoscopy procedures
• ERCP - EUS Required
• GI bleed management
• Evaluation of acute GI conditions

Facility Notes

• Pediatric patients rarely seen (must be ?15 years old and 50 kg for trauma cases)
• Strong in-house support from hospitalist and ICU teams

EMR & Credentialing Notes

• EPIC system requires pre-training completion
• Credentialing must be initiated to begin EMR setup (up to 5 days for account creation)
• Required prior to start:
  • EMR modules
  • Virtual EMR training (modules must be completed first)
• Training must be completed at least one week prior to start
• First-day details released only after training completion
