Requirements
Board Certified Oncology - highly preferred
Board Eligible accepted if newly out of residency
Active California state license
Fellowship in Hematology or Oncology
BLS
DEA
Medicare Eligible Provider
Assignment Details
Types of cases: General Oncology. Breast composes 30% of the oncology volume, followed by Prostate at 15%, with OB/GYN, lung, and colorectal each comprising approximately 10-13%
Setting: Outpatient clinic
Order and interpret diagnostic testing including blood work, biopsies, and imaging
Analyze biopsy results and collaborate with pathology
Order chemotherapy and immunotherapies using NCCN, UpToDate, and Micromedex
Reason for coverage: Volume increase until permanent physician is hired
Patients per day: 2 oncology consults, 1 hematology consult, 12-16 follow-ups
Ramp-up period expected for first 4-6 weeks as panel builds
Admissions per day: 0-1
No induction therapies, bi-specifics, or BMT/Car-T performed
Support staff includes scheduler, clinical supervisor, medical assistant, nurse navigation, social work, triage RN, and infusion RNs
EMR: OncoEMR (outpatient), Cerner (inpatient charting, lab results, DI results)
