The schedule is a standard five day work week, with the physician typically seeing patients per day in a well supported outpatient clinic. The practice offers extended weekday hours and limited weekend hours; the incoming physician will rotate one weekend day per month (9 a.m. 3 p.m.) and one evening per week until 8 p.m. Physicians have the option to take the following Monday off after their weekend rotation.
There is no telephone call, no in house call, and no nights associated with this position. All high risk deliveries are transferred, and the nursery cares only for well babies. The hospital averages approximately 250 deliveries annually, and the pediatrician is not required to attend any of them. The incoming physician will rotate rounding on the well baby nursery, which typically has 3 5 newborns.
Finances
For the pediatrician a $290k-300k base will be guaranteed for the first 12 months, and then $145k-150k will be guaranteed for next 6 months after that for a total of 18 months. There is also a production model that is based on total RVUs compared to base salary and allocated overhead expenses. Once the RVU amount exceeds the physicians overhead and base salary a bonus will be paid to the physician. Current physicians are making $340k with the opportunity to make $400k+ plus based on production.
• $100k bonus forgiven over months 48on a prorated basis, this can be divvied up as needed towards the front end of the contract or over the 48 months as a retention bonus, this bonus also includes relocation allowance.
