JOB OVERVIEW Profession: Physician Specialty: Emergency Medicine Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Morgan City, Louisiana Facility: Ochsner St. Mary Health System: SCP Health - Locums Coverage Period: Jun 26, 2026 Ongoing Shift Schedule: 24-hour shifts Reason for Coverage: Coverage Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered PATIENT INFORMATION Average Daily Volume: Approximately 77 patients per day (28,000 annual ED volume) Case Mix: Consistent with Emergency Medicine procedures FACILITY INFORMATION No. of Beds in Department: 15 ED beds (149 hospital beds) Trauma Level: Level 3 EMR System: Epic Support Staff Available: NPs/PAs (16-hour coverage) PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: Yes JOB REQUIREMENTS Board: BC in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine Licenses: Active unrestricted Louisiana Medical License; DEA License with LA address; LA Controlled Substance License; Supervising Physician License (for PA supervision) DEA / CDS: Active DEA with LA address; LA Controlled Substance License Certifications: ACLS, ATLS, PALS (ATLS required if not ABEM-certified) Experience: Residency trained in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine; new graduates accepted Other Qualifications: Case logs for past 2 years; CMEs for past 2 years; Immunizations: Flu (current season), TB (within 12 months), COVID vaccine; ABEM MOC participation if ABEM-certified; Supervising physician requirements for NP/PA oversight DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide emergency medical care to patients of all ages in a Level 3 trauma center Supervise and collaborate with NP/PA staff during their 16-hour coverage Perform procedures consistent with Emergency Medicine scope of practice Document all patient encounters accurately in the Epic EMR system Complete facility-required sedation modules during onboarding and reappointment
