Job Overview

A leading healthcare organization is seeking a Fellowship-Trained Breast Imaging Radiologist to provide on-site locum tenens coverage in a busy outpatient breast imaging center. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced physician who excels in breast diagnostics, image-guided procedures, and patient-centered care.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering comprehensive breast imaging services, including screening and diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, and image-guided interventions. This position offers a collaborative multidisciplinary environment and ongoing coverage needs with a flexible schedule of 2 to 3 days per week.

Schedule
  • 2 to 3 days per week
  • 2 to 4 weeks per month
  • Monday through Friday schedule
  • Hours: 8:00 AM 4:00 PM
  • No call requirements
Position Highlights

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret screening and diagnostic mammography studies
  • Perform and interpret breast ultrasound examinations
  • Interpret breast MRI studies
  • Conduct image-guided breast procedures, including:
    • Breast biopsies
    • Localizations
    • Fine needle aspirations and cyst aspirations
  • Manage same-day diagnostic workups and patient consultations
  • Communicate imaging findings and procedural information directly with patients
  • Collaborate with referring physicians and multidisciplinary care teams
  • Provide resident teaching and supervision as required
  • Maintain compliance with MQSA and BI-RADS standards
Expected Clinical Mix
  • Screening Mammography: 45% to 55%
    • Approximately 35 to 40 studies per shift
  • Diagnostic Breast Imaging: 25% to 35%
  • Breast Procedures: 15% to 25%
Patient Volume
  • Approximately 40 to 50 patients per day
Required Qualifications
  • MD or DO
  • Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology
  • Fellowship Training in Breast Imaging (Required)
  • Active Michigan Medical License (Required)
  • Breast Imaging expertise with strong procedural experience
  • Thorough knowledge of:
    • BI-RADS guidelines
    • MQSA requirements
  • Excellent patient communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume outpatient environment
Support Staff

Providers will be supported by:

  • 2 Registered Nurses
  • 1 Medical Assistant
  • 2 Administrative/Office Staff Members
Technology
  • EMR: Cerner
  • PACS: Change Healthcare (transitioning to Sectra)

The ideal physician is a fellowship-trained Breast Imager who combines strong clinical expertise with excellent patient-facing communication skills. You are comfortable discussing findings directly with patients, performing a variety of breast procedures, and contributing to a collaborative breast care program focused on delivering exceptional patient outcomes.
