Job description

All Star Healthcare Solutions is seeking a medical oncologist to assist with locums coverage in California. Job details include:

  • Certification Requirements: Board certification in medical oncology, BLS required
  • Experience Requirements: Fellowship training in medical oncology
  • License requirements: Active California license; Medicaid Eligible Provider; DEA required
  • Setting: Outpatient clinic
  • Schedule: Sixteen target days a month (some flexibility); 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Dates: Starting ASAP
  • Support Staff: Scheduler, clinical supervisor, medical assistant, nurse navigation, social worker, triage RN, and infusion RNs
  • Clinical Responsibilties: Thorough evaluation of patient medical history, symptoms, and risk factors related to blood disorders and cancers; ordering and interpreting various diagnostic tests, including blood work (Complete Blood Count, blood smears, genetic testing), bone marrow biopsies, imaging studies (CT scans, MRIs, PET scans), and lumbar punctures; a nalyzing biopsy results and collaborating with pathologists to determine the type, stage, and extent of the disease; f ormulating and explaining the diagnosis to patients and families, including the type and stage of the blood cancer or blood disorder; o rdering various chemotherapy and immunotherapies, utilizing available resources such as NCCN, UptoDate, and Micromedex as a guide and to justify medical necessity.
