We are hiring a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine physician (ABEM only) for an ongoing locum tenens assignment at a busy community emergency department. This long-term opportunity offers consistent monthly scheduling within a collaborative, physician-led environment.
Position details
- Coverage: Emergency Department at a community hospital (Level III Trauma Center)
- Start: September (credentialing required before start)
- Schedule: shifts/month
- Shift length: 10 hours (guaranteed 10 hours per shift)
- Overtime: applies after 12 hours/day
- Call: none
Facility and patient volume
- Annual ED visits: 30,000
- ED configuration: 22 beds (15 treatment rooms + 7 hallway beds)
- Physician staffing: single to triple coverage depending on volume
- EMR: Epic
Clinical support and specialty coverage
- 24/7 cardiac cath lab
- Tele-stroke coverage for activations
- Broad availability of medical and surgical specialties
- Typical specialty coverage:
- Neurosurgery/Neurology: 25%
- Gastroenterology: 80%
- Orthopedics: 90% (currently experiencing temporary staffing shortage)
Requirements
- ABEM Board Certification (required)
- Active, unrestricted state medical license
- Active DEA registration
- Current CV
- Clean credentialing history (no NPDB reports or significant red flags)
- Ability to complete and return privilege application within 1 2 business days
