A busyEmergency Department in Texas City, Texas is seeking a Locums EmergencyMedicine Physician to provide coverage in a collaborative, fast-paced clinicalenvironment. This opportunity is ideal for physicians who enjoy caring for abroad range of emergency conditions while working alongside an experiencedemergency medicine team.

PositionHighlights
  • Schedule: 12-hour day and night shifts
    • 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
    • 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
  • Weekday, weekend, and night coverage available
  • No call required
  • On-site clinical coverage
ClinicalEnvironment
  • Average daily census of 55-60 patients
  • Approximately 2 patients per hour, with occasional higher-volume surges of 8 or more patients in an hour
  • Diverse patient population with a mix of medical emergencies and traumatic injuries
  • Collaborative Emergency Department with experienced nursing and clinical support staff
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with a wide variety of emergency medical conditions
  • Perform standard Emergency Department procedures, including:
    • Endotracheal intubation
    • Procedural sedation
    • Fracture reduction and splinting
    • Chest tube placement
    • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
    • Laceration repair
    • Incision and drainage (I&D)
    • Central venous line placement
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic evaluations
  • Stabilize critically ill or injured patients and coordinate specialty care when necessary
  • Document patient encounters accurately in the electronic medical record
CommonCases

Physicianswill primarily manage:
  • Chest pain
  • Abdominal pain
  • Shortness of breath
  • Falls
  • Motor vehicle collisions
  • Sports-related injuries
  • Other routine emergency medical and trauma presentations
Severeor penetrating trauma is uncommon.

Qualifications
  • ABEM Board Certification preferred
  • Strong, experienced Emergency Medicine physicians with other appropriate training and significant ED experience will also be considered
  • Active Texas medical license or ability to obtain licensure
  • Current DEA registration
  • ACLS, ATLS, PALS, and BLS certifications, as required
